I was raised in NYC, with the sounds of sirens and the touch of concrete always around me. I play in dog parks and am usually on a leash running around busy people on the street…
I usually smell clean and my fur is not too raggity, you never know you might meet on the streets….
But, when I was in Missouri I met a new friend Dakota. He’s older than me, a bit smelly, hairy, nappy, but definitely a country dog. Dakota wonders from one house to another, exploring wherever he wants to go. He never looks back to where his mommy is or does he worry about who he’s gonna run into to…
Like other dogs out there, I LOVE those Air Kong ™ squeaky tennis balls. I won’t play with any other ball at the dog run or at home if it isn’t a Air Kong with a squeaker. But, my parents have gotten a little concerned ’cause when we take out our Air Kong at the dog park, some other dogs can get really aggressive and won’t give up my squeaky ball. All I wanna do is play with it guys!
I’m pretty laid back, and I won’t ever fight or even compete for my ball (i’m a lover not a fighter). I’ll just follow the dog around that takes my ball until he drops it…Sometimes other doggy parents blame my parents for bringing the balls to the park in the first place and say they are creating the problem…I really wonder though who is to blame? Is it my parents? Or is it the other dogs? Or me? Or no one?
My parents and I feel bad for stirring up drama in the dog park, but on the other hand shouldn’t we all be able to play nice together and share… I have no problem sharing with everyone and hope others can too one day.
We here at metropaws.com are obviously dog lovers. We are in NYC and are so excited to have the Westminster Dog Show come to our town every year at Madison Square Garden… This year my parents went to a AKC benefit event & met some of the awesome people behind the scenes of the big show…
We must say that we were impressed with everyone’s passion about the health and showmanship of my doggy cousins across the country… Yet after talking to some of these people, my parents learned that these dog owners don’t hang with people like us too often. Most of the people who show their dogs at dog shows don’t live in big cities, they don’t live in small apartments, and hell, they don’t go to dog parks like me and my parents.
Us urban dogs and our owners live different lives. In a closed room with people in tuxedos, my jean wearing parents stuck out like a sore thumb but they all got along very well with everyone and plan to help each other partner in the future. Keep your eyes peeled on metropaws.com for more on that…
There is this really nice man who walks his French bulldog around my block. I see them all the time when I’m out with my mommy walking late at night. The dog is ok, but the man is so nice, quiet, and friendly. Every time I see him lately he gives me these really small treats, but they taste so bad, I spit them out almost immediately.
Just the thought of those treats makes me sick and run to my water bowl… I don’t know how treats can be so ewwy tasting but I guess someone eats them huh? I don’t care about being rude, but to be honest I hope that he gets some better treats soon. Especially these days when Im on this crazy diet…
Being a dog during the holidays is tough… The weather is cold, your parents seem extra busy, and there are a lot more people and trees on the streets, and yes there is less space on the curbs for pooping…
Many doggies like myself have little idea what the holidays actually are, but we do know that we like presents, and with so many options out there I wanted to share two great new gifts I got for Christmas.
These gifts are not only different but fun and functional.
Well…I just had the best morning ever! Not only did I get to meet Santa Paws, but I got to meet 3 Santa Paws!!! Now, I not sure why there are so many, and I really don’t care, all I know that ‘I heart Santa Paws’ and all the goodies he puts in my stocking every year! mmmmmm……..
Which leads me to why I even posting right now, when I’m so busy with the holidays and shopping and wrapping and parties and all. But i couldn’t leave you all in 2009 without saying…
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL MY FRIENDS, FAMILY AND READERS! WE WISH ALL OF YOU PEACE, LOVE, HEALTH, AND HAPPINESS NOW, AND IN THE NEW YEAR TO COME!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT AND WE CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT YOUR HOLIDAYS AND TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT OURS! Happy Holidays!!!
SEE YA IN THE NEW YEAR! WOOF! ~Stone
I’m working hard to get my weight down, eating better, getting more exercise, taking vitamins, but I do come from big stock, my mom was 95lbs and my dad was 120lb. SO, there is little way I can get under 90lbs, let alone 30… so what’s with this 30lbs or less rule?
‘SIZE-ISM’ is what I call it!!! I am really sad and upset that this sort of thing is still going on in this country! It’s bad enough there is still sexism, racism, and all kinds of “ism’s” out there, but now Size-ism too??? Many stores don’t allow dogs, which is fine for me I guess as long as they keep it consistent…but those that allow dogs under 30lbs, WTF??? Sooooo not fair, because either you allow dogs or you don’t. PERIOD. It makes no sense to me, it’s SIZEIST…”size discrimination”.
Even some of the DOG non-profits such as Animal Haven have holiday fundraisers, but don’t take dogs larger than 25lbs…HUH? My mommy and daddy try to support all the events they can, but if they are Sizests, what else does that mean about what they think of larger dogs? What about pitbulls? Do they think their bad just because of their reputation?
It’s all very frustrating and confusing and I wish that someone out there would make some kind of law for once that APPLIES TO ALL DOGS EQUALLY, I mean REALLY! AND THAT DOESN’T GO FOR JUST DOG LAWS…that goes for all of the “ISM’S” that are still out there. This country is supposed to be based on equality! Get with the program already people! Grrrrrrrrrrr……
The age old question… If I’m pooping in the snow, do my parents still have to pick up after me? You know, cause it does get
hidden pretty good deep down in the snow.
WELL…Of Course! Just because there is snow on the ground doesn’t mean the law changes…Also, when when the snow melts, which will happen as we all know…the poopy will be all mushy, and wet, and well you get the picture…
Our Poopy Pouches (r) are so cheap anyway there is really no excuse to not pick up ya dogs poopy…and if you can’t do it yourself, find someone that can help out! And if your out of bags, give us a bark @ www.metropaws.com and we can send some out to you right away! It’s just not nice to not clean up after yourself, and you know, my whole motto is ‘do your duty and pick up your pet’s doody!’
But I will say one thing, it sure is hard poopin’ in the snow when it’s really high! I feel like I have a ’snow toilet’ right up against my behind-grrrr…a little room would be good….eeew! Anyhoo, thanks for listening to my ‘poopy tails’ and don’t forget to clean up after yourselves, snow or no snow, it’s the LAW! And just the right thing to do. WOOF!
Yesterday my mommy, an established art director, hosted a photo shoot for me and my friends for our new site www.metropaws.com.
It was great fun seeing so many of my friends all in one day, especially since some of them I haven’t seem in a long time, but boy was it exhausting….being a model is hard work!
A lot of girls (and of course some studs) came by to strut their stuff, everyone looked stunning and behaved so well! And I thanked them for all their hard work and time, because it really meant a lot, with goody bags as a reward for everyone’s commitment. We have been really busy working on this new project, and I want to thank my Uncle Chip too…(www.chipmillerphoto.com) BOY! He really put some time into making the day a real success!!!…All those flashes and cookies
made me tired, full and lazy, but it was sure worth it!
Just wait until you see these photos…
AND…Hope you are all staying dry in this snow storm…although, I myself prefer to be OUT in it making dog angels! WOOF…I heart the snow!
***Thank you again to my doggie friends, and all you humans too of course, for making our photo shoot an amazing success!
