I was raised in NYC, with the sounds of sirens and the touch of concrete always around me. I play in dog parks and am usually on a leash running around busy people on the street…
I usually smell clean and my fur is not too raggity, you never know you might meet on the streets….
But, when I was in Missouri I met a new friend Dakota. He’s older than me, a bit smelly, hairy, nappy, but definitely a country dog. Dakota wonders from one house to another, exploring wherever he wants to go. He never looks back to where his mommy is or does he worry about who he’s gonna run into to…
Like other dogs out there, I LOVE those Air Kong ™ squeaky tennis balls. I won’t play with any other ball at the dog run or at home if it isn’t a Air Kong with a squeaker. But, my parents have gotten a little concerned ’cause when we take out our Air Kong at the dog park, some other dogs can get really aggressive and won’t give up my squeaky ball. All I wanna do is play with it guys!
I’m pretty laid back, and I won’t ever fight or even compete for my ball (i’m a lover not a fighter). I’ll just follow the dog around that takes my ball until he drops it…Sometimes other doggy parents blame my parents for bringing the balls to the park in the first place and say they are creating the problem…I really wonder though who is to blame? Is it my parents? Or is it the other dogs? Or me? Or no one?
My parents and I feel bad for stirring up drama in the dog park, but on the other hand shouldn’t we all be able to play nice together and share… I have no problem sharing with everyone and hope others can too one day.
My new friend Bubbles, we call him BUB, is such a funny and incredibly sweet dog. He is another English lab, like me, but his coat is whiter than mine , and I think my mommy likes his color better than mine
Supposedly, I used to be that white…but like fine wine, I am aging and getting darker.
Or is that just aging? Hmmm, anyway, Bubble’s came over for a slumber party for a couple of days while his mommy had some grown up things to do. I loved every minute of it! Bubbles and I played, and played, and played.
We even went to the Washington Square Park Dog Run, but there, Bub was way more interested in the “bitches” than me. He followed them all, trying hard to ‘give game’. But eventually, it was time for Bub to go back home, and at the end of a couple days, Bubbles and I traveled to the Upper West Side in JP’s taxi (CALL NEW FAMILY AT 212.749.7777 & ask for him) . He has a big van, and I was in the way back laying down, but funny Bubbles was trying to jump in the front seat and drive…He doesn’t even have a license! Lol. Ok, so he wasn’t trying to drive, but he did want SHOTGUN! I swear. But instead, he just laid his head on the console by JP and took a snooze.
We finally got Bub home, and I was so tired from my long slumber party that I slept the whole rest of the day. Whew! And my time with Bubbles was so much fun, I felt like I had a big brother for a couple of days! Lots of people even said we look exactly the same, like twins, or definitely from the same litter. Funny thing is, Bub is from West Coast and I am from East Coast. Either way, I am honored because Bubbles is a good lookin’ dude…I mean dog.
Miss ya Bubbles, and hope to have a play date soon… woof!
