My daddy came back with a new treat for me the other day! It smelled so yummy! Dried Lamb strips, no added nothing except chlorophyll… The new treats have been giving me runny poop lately.. I know its not polite to talk about poop, but us dogs know that its a way of life on the ruff streets of NYC!!!
Since my parents’ have stopped feeding me the new treats things have been moving back to normal. I wonder if any of you doggy parents have also had problems with Dogwell treats. If so let me know.
The last couple of weeks my daddy has played with me a lot more. He seems to be listening to me more, paying more attention to my moods, and of course playing more and more with me… He has been talking to me differently to me, feeding me differently, and even walking with me differently on the streets.. I got to say I like all the changes!
My mommy tells me its because he is reading a new book by Alexandra Horowitz called “Inside of a Dog, What Dogs See, Smell, and Know”. The book tells you human doggy parents how we dogs think, how we see the world, and how we play with others. Daddy first got the book because of my new sister that my parents keep talking about, but now he loves the book so much he wants my mommy to read it.. I hear the woman who wrote the book has a doggy in Daddy’s neighborhood, I hope to meet them both soon.
All you dog mommy’s and daddy’s out there should go out and buy the book, it will really make your dog happy to know you read it.
If you and your parents are ever in the Lancaster Penn. area you should definately stay at the dog friendly Eden Resort. Not only is this place close to Hershey Park, but it has special grass areas for dog’s to run. They have big, comfy dog friendly condo rooms right next to the grass and poop bag holder to help all your doggy parents.
When you check in, waiting for those awesomely big, comfy rooms with a plush, clean, comfy carpet the staff gives out free ice cream in the lobby…What a great place, all for under $175 a night.
My parents and I had so much fun at the 1st ever Adoptapalooza event at Washington Square Park! We donated a couple of cases of our Poopy Packs ™ poop bags for a suggested donation of $5 each.
We ended up raising $796 for Animal Care & Control of New York with the help of our dear friend Pat and of course my cute self…
Today my parents took a tour of the ACC grounds with multi-hat wearing Elisabeth Manwiller, and yes my parents brought their checkbook and made a nice donation to the needy facility. My parents came home all excited to see me and reminded me that there are many dogs and cats out there that still need homes!
These other doggy cousins are still looking for a home, please contact Animal Care & Control if you have the time & space to help out!
I’m working hard on getting healthier for the holidays… My shoulder is feeling better, and all my parents friends’ are starting to compliment me on my weight loss! Woo Hoo-maybe that means more treats for me once the pounds are gone? Ummm… “honestly doubtful” Mommy says.
Over the years my parents have always fed me Wellness, and kept switching my food flavors from Wellness Chicken, to Wellness Fish, and then to Wellness Lamb and the weight was always tough to take off from certain brands. Now I’m eating Earthborn grain-free adn boy what a difference! I really love it, the taste is amazing, and its great for my weight because minus the grain is minus the pounds!. It’s all natural, holistic, and grain-free… I like it so much that even after I eat my breakfast or dinner, I go back to my bowl, lick it a couple hundred more times, although empty, just to make sure I didn’t miss a nibble…
I definitely recommend it to all my other dog friends and their parents! At least try it out, it’s new and if you go to your local store, they probably have sample bags for free! That’s how I tried my first bits. So think about it friends, if you need to lose some weight, want to go the natural route, looking for something new and improved or are looking for all kinds of great flavors, try EARTHBORN. If you can’t find it near you, or at all…email me at: stone@metropaws.com, and we can tell you where we got ours. mmmmmmmmm……………Hope you all are staying warm… - Stone
My parents have been told lately that green beans and broccoli are good for me, they are full of fiber to fill me up, and have almost no calories, as well as are meaty and fun to eat. But it seems that I have either missed that memo, or I am not like other dogs, because I have NO no interest in green beans. Gross. These ‘Beans could be drenched in my food, taste like meat, chicken or whatever, and I just have no interest in them!
BUT…I LOVE BROCCOLI?!!!
Steamed Broccoli fills me up, tastes great, and is so healthy for me. But how much can I have? My parents have read many things on the internet lately that say I can only have a certain amount per day, but what, if any, are the side effects? Some say there can be liver issues down the road with too much broccoli, and others say it isn’t so? But for now, it’s Broccoli instead of cookies at snack time, cause until someone can convince my parents otherwise, I love it and it’s healthy and it’s helping me lose the weight I need to!
AND, all I know is thank goodness for broccoli, because if those beans were my only option, I would be one SAD, starvin’ dog!
whew!
I have been limping for quite a while now, and it has been getting much worse lately. First my parents thought is was the yeast infection in my paws that just wasn’t going away. But then I got this special medicated soap from the Vet for my baths, to clean my paws with, and my paws were finally clear of the infection! But wait! My limp, is not going away…?
So, my parents decided to take me back to the doggy doctor. I have two vets, one uptown where my daddy lives, and one downtown where my mommy lives. My new uptown vet suggested my parents give me some vitamins, cut back on my doggy treats and give me NO MORE people food.
She says I have a little tick in my shoulder when it rotates, which is probably a pre-arthritis, and if I get this weight off, it should definitely help with the pain and limp I have. It should also help with my condition so I can revert back to my strong, bad-ass self.
gggrrrrruufffffff!
Well, that was 2 long weeks ago, and now today I weighed only 99lbs. That means I lost 4 whole lbs in 2 weeks. That’s right bitches! Look out, cause Hot Stuff Stone is back on the prowl. AND…mucho thanks to my parents for having TOUGH LOVE with me, my treats and exercise.
Marcus, my dog walker, has also been giving me nice long walks every day, and cutting back on my treats. Every little bit helps as the doctor says and now everything is paying off! I feel great!
I do have a few more to go, at least 4 to 5 more pounds the vet says, but my parents are very happy. And one thing I know for sure, if I can lose the weight…anything’s pawsable!
Diets are a lot of work…so stay tuned to see how things progress, and how much more I lose!!! Woof.
I must be getting older because I’m starting to Limp…again. My right shoulder hurts from all the wear and tear of walking on the concrete, rough digging in the mud and dirt at the parks, playing tons of soccer kicking the ball around, and just hard play with my friends. But, my new neighborhood Vet says I need to lose some weight…8-13 lbs to be exact.
I’m 103 now, and I know I’m a lil chubby, but I come from big “stock” as my human mommy says. My bio (biological) dad was 120 and my bio mom was 95…. I know I that doesn’t mean much to a lot of people, but it does explain my size…a little anyway!
My parents took the vet seriously AND stopped giving me table scraps, only a few small diet cookie treats a day, and no extra ANYTHING…ever. And I’m getting more exercise too!
For all you dog owners out there you should know that after a thorough check of my limbs, the doctor said that table scraps are the worst for me because of the amount of calories in your people food. My friend Lynn said she gave her dog pedialyte in his water to fill her dog up & help him lose weight, but other friends suggest green beans or broccoli in my food to add healthy fiber and it’s a good belly filler! Anyway, I know I have a long road ahead, but I want to feel better, so it looks like a lot of tough love is in order…and anything’s pawsable!
